SLIIDE-KITE is the global pioneer in Tandem kite harness manufacturing, offering products designed for tandem kite and tandem handikite use. With a strong commitment to eco-responsibility, we have been able to deliver exceptional results for our clients by combining quality, sustainability, respect for the environment and social inclusion. SLIIDE-KITE is the fruit of many years of Research, Practice, experimentation, and human encounters.

The genesis
The SLIIDE-KITE brand was born from the needs created by the development of the Tandem Handikite activity, in French Guiana, from 2014. The need to have a kitesurfing harness designed specifically for the practice of tandem kiting, which would provide guarantees of safety, comfort and practicality led us to think about the design of a specific harness. The Tandem Handikite activity aims to allow children with disabilities to discover the pleasures of kitesurfing. It was officially invented by Yann Déjou, kitesurfing and sailing instructor, PE teacher and founder of the Guya'Kite association, in 2015.

Institutional recognition
In 2017, the Tandem handikite activity was presented to the federal executives of the French Free Flight Federation (FFVL), then the delegate of kitesurfing. After many months of collaboration and work, the activity is officially created, recognized and insured. This is the first time that a valid discipline has resulted from the existence of a disabled sport discipline. At the local level in Guyana, the Regional Health Agency is financially committed by supporting the project.

Skills sponsorship
En 2021 nous obtenons un mécénat de compétence auprès de Capgemini Engineering France, anciennement Altran. Ce mécénat de compétence a pour objectif la création d'un harnais spécifique au Tandem kite. Jusqu'en mars 2024 nous avons bénéficié des compétences d'une vingtaine d'ingénieurs hommes et femmes, certains en situation de handicap, avec lesquels nous avons collaborer jusqu'à l'invention et le dépôt d'un brevet nécessaire à la création du premier harnais de tandem kite éco conçu.

The creation of the SLIIDE brand
The creation of a brand was not in the plans but the evolution of the project brought us there and in October 2023 the SLIIDE brand was registered in order to be able to finalize the development and mass production of the finalized version of the harness Tandem Kite developed with engineers. The SLIIDE logo has a history. Besides the meaning "Slide", the two "i" represent the two people in tandem, the "D" and the "E" are also connected as the tandem pair.

SLIIDE harnesses are manufactured in an ESAT, an establishment employing people with disabilities. They are entirely designed by hand for optimal quality and finish. The materials used are either recycled (plastic, neoprene, tarpaulin, straps, etc.) or recyclable (plastic, neoprene, etc.). We do not produce stocks, all our orders are made to order. We produce in a short circuit because we have selected partners within a very tight scope in order to limit our carbon footprint as much as possible.
